There are 24 state high courts in India, and according to article 214, every state shall have a high court. High court CHD is an ordinary high court for the state Punjab, Haryana and the union territory of Chandigarh.
Every high court of India must have a chief judge and another judge appointed by the president of India, though the total number of judges varies from court to court. This high court is located in the city, the capital of Chandigarh. This high court of Punjab and Haryana was initially named Lahore high court before the independence of India. It was established in Lahore on 21st March 1919.
In the time of independence, Lahore was given to Pakistan, and later in 1955, the high court was moved to the current city- Chandigarh. The court is now in sector 1 Chandigarh. - Smoking and drinking is prohibited
- Photography and videography are not allowed.
